Pahang Aerospace City Development Berhad (PAC) has engaged with The Karman Project during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026, exploring opportunities to position Malaysia as a regional platform for space-related dialogue and cooperation.
The engagement involved PAC’s Managing Director, Prof. Adj. Muhamad Nurazmi Abas, The Karman Project’s Managing Director, Hannah Ashford, and Rajeeshwaran Moorthy, Board Advisor to PAC, who plays a key role in shaping PAC’s international positioning and strategic dialogue frameworks.
Discussions focused on how PAC’s Space City initiative can integrate civil society, academia, and international thought leadership into its broader ecosystem. The Karman Project, an international non-profit foundation known for its work at the intersection of space, diplomacy, and peace, convenes senior leaders from more than 70 nations across the global space sector. With capacity-building and ecosystem development among the core of its activities, the foundation is well positioned to support PAC in establishing its presence as a leading international hub from the outset.
“As the new space economy accelerates, competition alone cannot be the defining narrative,” said Rajeeshwaran Moorthy. “Platforms like PAC must also serve as spaces for dialogue, trust-building, and shared responsibility. This is essential as space becomes increasingly tied to economic growth, security, and global stability.”
The discussions also explored the potential for Malaysia to host future space-and-peace dialogues and activities aligned with The Karman Project’s peacebuilding mandate, positioning the country as a neutral convenor amid the intensifying global space race. Having recently launched the Space Peace Prize – an international recognition that has garnered strong support from global space and peace leaders, including Nobel Peace Prize laureates – The Karman Project remains committed to engaging broadly to incentivise ambitious, cooperative projects for the future of space.
PAC views such engagements as essential to ensuring that space development is aligned not only with economic ambition, but also with international cooperation and long-term global stability.
